AJAXPress
AJAXPress is a free and open-source Web 2.0 blogging platform written in Javascript with a PHP backend; it requires a server with PHP and MySQL installed and you can import your WordPress database.A demo version is available here : I'm not really impressed with the (quite basic, unlike the WordPress one) user interface of the admin section (see screenshot), but maybe the equation Ajax = Eye-candy is just a misunderstanding of mine.
According to the home page, in order to properly see/run AJAXPress the browser must be IE 6.0 or Firefox 1.5 (or greater): the funny thing is that I'm experiencing some issues with IE 6.0, while the platform seems to work like a charm with the unmentioned Opera (8.53).
